A Belgian in the Holland Heineken House

The Holland Heineken House is said to be the place to be for a good party during the London 2012 Olympic Games, so I went ahead and checked it out for you.

In case you didn’t know … I was part of the Samsung Global Bloggers group who went to London the first week of the Olympic Games to cover the atmosphere of the City during the London 2012 Olympic Games. During my stay I had the opportunity to visit some of the National Hospitality Houses. One of them was the Holland Heineken House …

I had already visited a few other National Hospitality Houses including the Belgian House, Casa Brasil, the Danish House and the Korean House and all of those were quite nice (footage might follow in a next post) and even interesting. Yet … everyone told me that the Holland Heineken House was the place to be for a good party. Luckily our Dutch and Belgian Samsung Managers bought tickets for us and took us there on the evening of August the first.

The trip from where we were staying (Hammersmith – West London) took us a while since the Holland Heineken House is located in the Alexandra Palace outside the city center. Once we got out the the tube some of our group decided to take the bus. Jerre, Michiel and myself decided to walk up to the Holland Heineken House. People warned us about the long and steep walk … but hey … we were here for the Olympic Games so some sports would be nice.

Once we got up to the top of the hill we got welcomed by the Orange glow on the Alexandra Palace and we knew immediately that we had arrived. A quick call to the guys who took the bus (since they had our tickets) and a few minutes later we were inside the Holland Heineken House …

WOW …

Yes … the Holland Heineken House is HUGE !

Since I was wearing a Belgian Olympic Shirt … it felt kinda strange. Everyone had something orange on … except for me. But I didn’t mind at all, and some Dutch people even spoke to that one Belgian guy they could spot in the crowd. And crowdy it was in there.

Apparently there was also a party during which Edith Bosch (Bronze medalist Judo) and Marianne Vos (Gold medalist Cycling) were honored. And if there is one thing the Dutch people are good at … then it’s throwing a party. Some music, some Dutch lyrics, some beers and you have the right atmosphere for a good Dutch party.

During the evening a rather famous Dutch singer Jan Smit even gave a performance, and it was just awesome. I have to admit that from all the National Hospitality Houses I visited during my stay in London, the Holland Heineken House had the best atmosphere and an awesome party.

For those of you interested in how that evening went, I added a little video montage of some of the footage I shot during that evening. Enjoy …
